The Summer Smooth Guide 2025

Getting ready for summer is easier when your hair-removal routine is planned in advance. This guide helps you build a consistent at-home IPL routine with a Go Bare handset while keeping the device manual and your skin’s response front and centre.

Why start your IPL routine early?

IPL works across repeated sessions because hair grows in cycles. Starting before a holiday or event gives you time to complete the schedule recommended for your handset, assess progress and adjust your routine within the manual’s guidance. Individual results vary.

Your summer IPL routine

Before your first session

  • Confirm your skin tone and natural hair colour are suitable for the device.
  • Read the user manual and complete the required patch test.
  • Take a progress photo in consistent lighting if you want to track changes.

Before each treatment

  • Shave and clean the treatment area as directed.
  • Make sure the skin is dry and free from deodorant, moisturiser, oil and tanning product.
  • Choose an intensity permitted for your skin tone and comfortable for the area.

During treatment

Place the treatment window flat against the skin and work in a methodical pattern. Avoid repeatedly flashing the same spot. Use the mode recommended in your manual for the area you are treating.

After treatment

Follow your manual’s aftercare advice and protect treated skin from unnecessary sun exposure. If your skin feels uncomfortable or reacts unexpectedly, pause treatment and follow the safety guidance supplied with the device.

Choose the handset that suits your routine

The Go Bare Classic IPL Handset has seven intensity levels plus automatic and manual modes. The Go Bare CoolPro IPL Handset has five intensity levels, Dual-Flash Technology and Sapphire Cooling Technology designed for comfort.

Common summer mistakes to avoid

  • Treating recently tanned skin without checking the manual’s restrictions
  • Skipping the patch test
  • Waxing or epilating when the routine calls for shaving
  • Treating more often than the device schedule recommends
  • Using IPL over tattoos or other areas excluded by the manual
